Miss Percy goes to Poland!

Miss Percy goes to Poland!

Here's my first glimpse at the Polish cover for The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker, Miss Percy's first foreign translation! Isn't it neat?!

I'm beside myself. Percy and the Guard are very excited too.

Polish Publisher: AMBER - (check out their site, it's awesome!)- Expected publication date: Feb. 1st 2011
*dances Polka*

This is my first foreign rights sale so I'm feeling very shiny and thrilled, to see a beautiful cover in another language and to see your name on it... well... there's just something so uniquely special and sacred about it to me. Writers are storytellers in their soul and bones, and to think that my story might cross language barriers even, well, it kinda makes me cry. Like all of this is bigger than me. Because it is, for all writers. Our stories are bigger than ourselves and they'll live in this world in ways we might never be able to. That's very special. And I feel very blessed by such an opportunity for my work to take on a whole new life, a whole new language. That's magical.
Strangely Beautiful Blessings!

  8. @Delilah - Thanks darling! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the translation and I look forward to learning some words in Polish. :)

@Rachel - thanks tons, yes, I'm in love with all my covers (thankfully, since we authors never have a say in how they turn out) - and I love how this one compliments the original. They did a great job of using both the "strangely" and the "beautiful" :)

@Julie - thank you so much, I'm really in awe, it's such a strange and magical thing when your work begins to have a life of its own in other lands! Cheers!

  9. Dear Leanna,

Gratulacje! (There's my attempt at Polish. Let's hope I didn't embarrass myself).

Lucky Percy travelling to Poland! But she did always have a knack for languages, so this outcome is no surprise, really.

I am thrilled that the cover includes:
    1) London
    2) A figure that could be either Percy or a ghost
    3) A "Portal"

    Brilliant!

  12. Congratulations! It must be an odd feeling to know that your words have been translated into a language that you don't even speak! What a cool and amazing thing! It sort of makes the world feel like a smallet place in some ways.

  13. @Jess - Thanks! I know, when I saw it, that's just what I said. :)

@Maureen - *happy spooky dance* Yay spooky! That's ultimately what I'd like to be known for, sweet and spooky :)

@Rochelle - I know, the first thing my best friend responded with was "Okay, so now when are we going to Poland?" :) Thanks!

@Houndstooth - Thanks so much! That's exactly how it feels, that boundaries are being crossed that I never could in any other way. Thanks for sharing in this special moment! Cheers!

  14. The "first* anything is very special indeed, but even among firsts, a foreign translation is a supremely huge deal. Congratulations! The cover is gorgeous, a portal to a new fan base, I'm sure.
