The Eterna Solution launch parties & signed pre-orders!

Darlings! Deadlines and work demands have been off the charts. As an author of ghost stories and paranormal adventures and a ghost tour guide in Manhattan, you can imagine that September and October is the 'busy season' and goodness has it been a busy one indeed!

But we've a new book nearly here!! A wonderful celebration as it ties together the Eterna Files trilogy into an exciting conclusion! And we're going to have some GREAT launch parties!

About THE ETERNA SOLUTION (Via Tor Books):

Unnatural howls echo across the Atlantic | Lady Liberty’s torch blazes with hellfire | Dead bodies shamble through the grounds of Columbia College...

It’s 1882 and two government divisions of paranormal investigators have completed a most harrowing task―stopping a demonic nobleman from taking over the British Parliament. Now the motley crew of psychics, scientists, scholars, and magicians must race across the ocean to Manhattan to protect it from evil forces they believe Moriel unleashed.
American Clara Templeton’s psychic powers have grown exponentially but she worries that defeating the sinister forces arrayed against them will cost her her life. Londoner Harold Spire, once a Scotland Yard detective, has had just about enough of the occult, though he has seen his team’s supernatural powers at work. Together, the American Eterna Commission and the British Omega Department hope to save New York City without destroying themselves.
In this climactic third installment of The Eterna Files series, Prism award-winning author Leanna Renee Hieber delivers a delightful Gaslamp fantasy set in 19th century New York and Washington D.C., rich with detail and embroidered with a cast of captivating characters.

From the back cover:

"Just when we think our nightmares are over, the Society has invented a new horror. Around every corner a shadow, behind every whisper a demon. If we don't end what the devils began, we will die haunted..."

The finale in the acclaimed Magic Most Foul trilogy: The trauma and the terror of the Master's Society has only escalated for the dashing Lord Denbury and brave, feisty Miss Natalie Stewart, and a new terror has been unleashed in Manhattan. Together with their stalwart friends and unlikely heroes, they take the fight directly to the Denbury estate, where new evils have awakened. But are they prepared for all the sacrifices that shall be asked of them? With their very lives and the sanctity of their mortal souls at stake, Natalie and Jonathon are past the point of no return...

Apocalypsies Feature: Janci Patterson

Welcome to my next Apocalypsies Feature where I ask a bit about brand new fabulous books from my YA debut crew and a few random questions that inquiring minds want to know. Okay, well, at least weird questions that I want to know. Welcome Janci Patterson and debut novel CHASING THE SKIP!
CHASING THE SKIP
by Janci Patterson

Release Date: Today!

Synopsis: Ricki’s dad has never been there for her. He’s a bail bondsman who spends his time chasing parole evaders—also known as “skips”— all over the country. Ever since Ricki’s mom ran off, Ricki finds herself an unwilling passenger in a front-row seat to her father’s dangerous
lifestyle. Ricki’s feelings get even more confused when her dad starts tracking seventeen-year-old Ian Burnham. She finds herself unavoidably attracted to the dark-eyed felon who seems eager to get acquainted. Ricki thinks she’s ever in control—the perfect accomplice, the Bonnie to his Clyde. Little does she know that Ian isn’t playing the game by her rules.
Leanna Asks:

Your Fave thing about your book:
I loved writing about bounty hunters, and their place in the American justice system. It's exciting to write about people with interesting lives--things real people do for a living, but that other people generally know very little about. Plus, the subject allowed me to write some adventure and some pathos, which is a fun combination.

Your Fave fluffy animal:
The red panda. Most adorable critter ever, and exotic, too.
If you were a ghost, where would you haunt?:
Red Butte Gardens in Salt Lake City. I could be ghostly and still enjoy the flowers.
Thanks Janci! HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY!

Perilous Prophecy and the Hometown Signing

A homecoming is always good.

My Westchester OH Barnes & Noble always treats me well, and my friends and family never disappoint me.

I had a wonderful, warm crowd to read to, and read I did. (The actress in me does so love a chance to read aloud). I chose a ghost-busting selection from the beginning of The Perilous Prophecy of Guard and Goddess. In this prequel we meet new characters, expand the horizons onto other lands as well as familiar haunts within London and rejoin the stories of our beloved favourites.

I was particularly delighted to see three young, supremely talented writers, Lizzie, Sammi and Hanna (pictured with me here), along with some of their wonderfully sweet family members, and to have a moment playing one of my favourite roles; that of being a writing cheerleader. I've told them they're not allowed to give up on their dreams or on their writing, otherwise I'll get angry. And I'm not an angry person, so this isn't to be trifled with. :) You'll see that demand in writing in the back of Darker Still , on the acknowledgement page. Hanna is right in her very kind blog post to me, my ghosts will come to haunt them otherwise. :)

I simply can't allow the opportunity I have to go to waste, that of being the voice of an author whose work is out in the world, to be an encouraging one. Yes, being a writer is tough. Yes, the business is hard. Yes, it's frustrating and exhausting to stay disciplined and to hone your craft. But that's the way of everything truly worth doing. So if I have an opportunity to be in any way an example as well as a cheerleader, I take gladly to that role. Sometimes it just takes one person saying 'yes, you can' to motivate turning dreams into a reality.

It also just so happens that Hanna comes up with the greatest shirts for my signings and events. I've been treated to several. This year was a new one, what she's wearing in the picture reads: FRONT: "If I was born in 1853..." BACK: "My last name would be Rychman!" (The last name of my beloved hero).

-- This, of course, caused me no end of glee! Thank you, Hanna, for your creativity, and also for your exceedingly kind post.

Thank you friends and family in Ohio for showing up and making it a wonderful night! In case you missed it, Ohio, stop by the Streets of Westchester Barnes & Noble because they've still got some signed copies of books 1, 2, and of Perilous Prophecy, all now reissued in Trade Paperback format. The manager, Gail, will be happy to help you. We can even arrange for a signed bookplate to be sent to the store!

For a bunch of fun ghost stories from The Perilous Prophecy of Guard and Goddess and giveaways, be sure to check out the Haunted London Blog Tour, contests are still open for those who comment on the posts!

STRANGELY BEAUTIFUL RELEASE DAY!

THE DAY IS HERE!

Release Day!

It's a party at Romance Novel.tv! It's another Strangely Beautiful Haunted London Blog Tour stop, another chance to win a free book, check out my fresh new VIDEO interview, and have a great time! Remember to leave a comment and you might win a book!

Tonight I get to go to Barnes & Noble Lincoln Center and read in that

gorgeous store along with Award Winning authors Charles Ardai, Anna DeStefano, Jack Ketchum in an evening of Genre Fiction with Dorchester Publishing! When I saw my name and book cover on the banner inside the store, I'm not going to lie, I truly swooned. Just like Percy. :)
-
And Percy got another gorgeous review from Brooke Reviews! Thanks Brooke!

Brooke says:

"Miss Percy Parker is a lovely tale. Whenever I try to describe this book I always go back to the words "lovely" or "beautiful". Beautiful is quite fitting as it's in the title of the book, right? Percy Parker is a great heroine to follow. She knows nothing of the prophecy, and nothing about her past or the powers she holds. She only knows that she's odd, in that she sees ghosts and that she somewhat resembles them with her pale skin, hair, and eyes. When I say she is a great heroine to follow, I mean that she grows through the whole story - with the help of her Professor - and it's very nice to see this shy young lady grow stronger and into more of a woman.
"It was hard to sit on the "outside" of this book. I just wanted to jump in and help these characters out. I guess wanting to be involved in the story is a good thing right? There are more characters than Percy and Alexi, and all have their separate quirks and personalities. While reading, you can get a good feel for each one, and their likes/dislikes, desires, and powers....Leanna Renee Hieber's education on everything Victorian shines in this tale, and it was a pleasure to watch it all unravel. I look forward to many more LOVELY books from her in the future. The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker is alluring and haunting and should NOT be missed."
(Read Brooke's full review on her very lovely site)
-
Also at Janicu's Book Blog, she calls the story "unique: a mix of historical, steampunk, paranormal and gothic romance. It's the originality that really had me and made it a keeper, with clever twists on Greek mythology and Jack the Ripper." Check out the full review.
-
I've an Inspirations and Influences post and review at The Booksmugglers!
-
And The Book Butterfly - a most engaging blog visually and in content - has lovely words for Miss Percy Parker!
Kim says:
The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker was an exquisite start to what surely will be an engaging series. Leanna Renee Hieber has created an enticing novel by blending together a combination of historical characters, potent paranormal elements and a sweet, satisfying romance. Add a dash of mythology to the mix and you’re ready to serve up a captivating gothic fantasy that should appeal to both adult readers and a mature teen audience."
(Read Kim's full review - and also catch my Contest!)
-
I'm also doing my monthly blog today at POPCULTUREDIVAS! Talking about the Gothic Novel!
-
I certainly hope you'll pick up a copy of The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker this release week! I'm so excited to share it with you!

Blessings!

DARK NEST is coming!

Well hello there, cyberspace.

How are you?

I'm fine, thanks.

So let's get to the point.

I'm here to do what an author's gotta do. Shout loudly about her upcoming release.

I'VE GOT A BOOK COMING OUT!

Y'all hear that?

Great.

It looks like this:

It's called DARK NEST, and it will be available from Crescent Moon Press.

www.crescentmoonpress.com

Not yet. In May. I just want everyone to be prepared.

Here's what to expect, in a nutshell:

"Chief Counsel Ariadne Corinth has just found out her long-time lover, the powerfully gifted Chief Counsel Kristov Haydn, has died. Newly evolved psychically gifted humans have been sent by the Homeworld on a space mission aboard two distinct “Nests”. Relationships between the Light Nest and the Dark Nest have faltered and Ariadne is sure there’s something insidious behind it. In a matter of hours, Ariadne must find out what really happened to Kristov, unite her people to discover vast new powers the Homeworld denied them, or else submit to genocide."

And yes, the Dark Nest looks like the Cathedral of Notre Dame. In space. That's what I love about being an author. I can do things like that. I always wanted to go into Notre Dame. I always wanted to go into space. Well, hey.

Check back for release dates and further details! I may even sponsor a contest! Oooh!
